GREENSTEEL

GreenSteel was founded in 2007 by Hellenic Halyvourgia with the aim of treatment, full recovery and marketing of all byproducts resulting from the production process of a steel production company. GreenSteel has two factories, in Aspropyrgos and Volos. The treatment procedures applied, lead to full utilization of byproducts and use Best Available Techniques, so as to minimize the environmental burden.

The company's goal is to contribute to sustainable development. In this direction the company's executives collaborate with public agencies, educational institutions and private laboratories, so that GREENSTEEL uses the most advanced systems for environmental protection.

GreenSteel’s main product is hard aggregates for antiskid road construction. GreenSteel produces high quality antiskid products, which are CE certified by ELOT EN 13043. The use of these products in manufacturing antiskid material leads to the construction of safe, high standard roads.

Aggregates of GreenSteel are used in antiskid road material of major highways that are built today in the country, as the road axis of Corinth-Tripoli-Kalamata, in the reconstruction of the road material of National Road Athens-Lamia, in all reconstructions of antiskid road material in Attica, etc.

Other products produced by GreenSteel are: ferrous slag for cement, sand blasting, sand for blocks and paving slabs, sand slag 0-5mm, sand filling hydraulic works and non-ferrous metals (copper, brass, aluminum, etc.).

The GreenSteel is a recycling company from the operation of which multiple environmental benefits are resulting.
First of all, a full utilization of byproducts produced during operation of steel plants is being made, to prevent the disposal of the latter (deposition inside or on the ground, etc.), fulfilling in this way the authorities hierarchy of waste management as reflected in recent EU Framework Directive 2008/98/EC on waste management.

Furthermore, by using GreenSteel product, significant savings of natural resources (aggregates embankments or road construction, metals, etc.) is being achieved, as well as the avoidance of mining operations on the environment as a result of the savings above.
