ALUMINIUM OF GREECE S.A. member of MYTILINEOS Group was founded in 1960, with the aim of exploiting the significant Greek bauxite deposits to produce alumina and aluminium. For a period of 40 years, its operation has been met with the rapid pace of the industry that translates into valuable experience and expertise in industrial and commercial practices.
Today the company is the largest completely integrated producer of alumina and aluminium in Southeastern Europe with a production capacity of over -on an annual basis- 180.000 tn in aluminium and 800,000 tn in alumina. It employs 1.100 people and approximately 400 persons in affiliated companies.
The Company established its industrial complex in Agios Nikolaos in Viotia, a strategic region that combines the proximity to the bauxite deposits in Viotia and Fokida, with direct access to the network of maritime transport, since it is located on the coast of the Corinthian Gulf. At the same time, the creation of the MYTILINEOS Group first Cogeneration Electricity and Heat unit at the premises of the Aluminion, ensure energy sufficiency and independence of the company by providing a strategic advantage.

In the field of recycling and residues recovery "Aluminion of Greece“ has joined research programs for the development of multiple uses of bauxite residue in the cement industry, potteries, road construction, crop land and landfill coverage. In addition, the company has progressed to investments in equipment which allows draining of bauxite residues to allow recovery to the above uses, which put “Aluminium of Greece” in global leadership in this area.
